As
exciting as winning the 2023
Supertag Trifecta lottery
is, the task of planning and
preparing for a hunting trip
like that in a matter of
months is almost too
daunting. Thank God I found
Trails West and Josh
Martoglio early in the
process. Josh helped me plan
everything from the gear I
needed to get to the dates
we needed to hunt. From
riding mules on a sheep hunt
to hiking boulders on a goat
hunt, Josh seemed to know
exactly how hard he could
push to get the most out of
the hunt for us all. For
Josh to take a Georgia boy
with zero mountain
experience who never had to
shoot an animal more than
200 yards away and lead me
on THREE successful hunts in
six days is nothing short of
remarkable (Bighorn Sheep,
Mountain Goat, & Elk in that
order). All the while, it
felt like I was out there
with old hunting buddies
rather than just a hired
guide. I cant thank Josh
enough for not only the
success of the hunt but for
making the whole experience
one that Ill remember and
think back on for life. If
Im fortunate enough to get
the opportunity to ever do
another Wyoming hunt it
will, without a doubt, be
with Josh as my guide!

"Everything from the preparations of the camp to the horses was well thought out & provided the best possible hunting adventure."
|
|
"Thank you SHOSHONE LODGE OUTFITTERS! Everything from the preparations of the camp to the horses was well thought out & provided the best possible hunting adventure.
Josh & his brother, Jordan, were adept at spotting sheep as well as pointing out to me, what to look for.
With all the comforts of a good camp site, we were comfortable & ate very well the entire trip. Their knowledge & experience made for both great fireside chats as well as the hunt itself."

"The hospitality I received from Mike and crew at Shoshone Lodge was second to none. Great cabins, phenomenal food, far-fetched stories, all located in the most remote mountains in the lower 48.
Need I say more?..." |

"After waiting 16 years to draw a Wyoming Big Horn Sheep permit, I wasn't going to settle for just any guide or outfitting service. Luckily, I have many connections in the Wyoming hunting scene, and all my resources pointed me to Josh Martoglio and Shoshone Lodge Outfitters. I used them and wasn't disappointed.
The hospitality I received from Mike and crew at Shoshone Lodge was second to none. Great cabins, phenomenal food, far-fetched stories, all located in the most remote mountains in the lower 48. Need I say more? OK, I will anyhow. If you want a guide who will find you a ram, then demand Josh Martoglio. There is no way I would have got my nice Ram without him. He has the eye of hawk, the hunting skills of a Dakota Indian, and horse packing skills of a true Wyoming cowboy. Trust me, after riding with him for a week, you will earn your belt buckle, cowboy hat and spurs."

"My hunt with Josh and the Shoshone Lodge Outfitters was by far the least stressful and most rewarding hunt I have had in my 40+ years of hunting."
|
|
"This letter is my personal recommendation for Josh Martoglio and the Shoshone Lodge Outfitters. My hunt with Josh and the Shoshone Lodge Outfitters was by far the least stressful and most rewarding hunt I have had in my 40+ years of hunting.
Besides being a joy to hunt with, Josh is a take-charge person who is able to present creative ideas and communicate the plan of attack for a successful hunt. He has a "can do" attitude and personally shoulders the associated burdens to make it happen. During the six days I hunted with Josh, our party had a 100% success rate, saw seven different species of big game, experienced a level of professionalism unlike any seen before, and made life memories. Additionally, the hospitality provided by Mike and the staff of the Shoshone Lodge was outstanding!
Without reservation, my next "outfitter hunt" will be with Josh and the Shoshone Lodge Outfitters."
Sincerely,

"I would like to thank both of you again for an enjoyable and successful sheep hunt."

"It was good to hear from you today. I do hope that both your and Tim's Holidays were good and that everything is well with your families. I would like to thank both of you again for an enjoyable and successful sheep hunt.
The hunt was well planned and went along with few hitches or problems to overcome. Your experience and expertise at packing and setting up a spike camp were obvious all along the way. The riding stock and pack horses were very good and well conditioned for the trip and daily use. The food was first rate and there was always plenty. You and Tim made every effort to make Ron and his hunt and camp time comfortable and safe. Your ability to find good rams and put us on to them was appreciated by both Ron and I. I would and as a matter of fact have recommended you as a guide for sheep hunts. I believe you would do as well guiding for elk or deer."

"My guides, Jordan and Tim, were gentleman and very good guides... They all were willing to go the extra mile to make my hunt great..." |
|
"I would recommend Josh Martoglio and Shoshone Lodge Outfitters they were hardworking and fun to hunt with. They had top quality equipment and horses, the food was plentiful and very good at the lodge and in camp and they were right near Yellowstone Park.
My guides, Jordan and Tim, were gentleman and very good guides. They did not rush me to take the first sheep we saw and moved camp to look at a new part of my area. They used quality optics and they were very good at finding sheep. I felt safe and well cared for at all times in a very beautiful and rugged area. They all were willing to go the extra mile to make my hunt great."

"Generally you can find at least some small item during a hunt that you would change. Not with these guys, the were terrific." |
|
"Last Oct I hunted with Josh Martoglio out of Shoshone Lodge. Since I have retired I have been on about 30 guided trips.
Josh & Mike are the very best of all these outfitters many of whom were very good. He designed a hunt to match my physical limitations.
Generally you can find at least some small item during a hunt that you would change. Not with these guys, the were terrific. Well, I do have one problem; at 75 I will never be able to hunt sheep with Josh again. Please feel free to contact me at huntwyoming@aol.com or 307-630-5202."

"... I felt like we got everything that we were promised. Our guide, Josh, worked very hard to put me in position to kill my deer and the food at the lodge was great. I have told all of my friends about Shoshone Lodge hunting service..." |

"Hello, my name is Vince Roubique from Independence LA, in June of 2011 I had the oppotunity to visit Shoshone Lodge on vacation and I have to say we truly enjoyed our stay at the lodge.
While I was there I inquired about their guided hunts. Being a hunter most of my life, I always wanted to go on a guided hunt in that part of the country. I was fully aware that these hunts do cost money that most of us work very hard for therefore I was always cautious about just sending money to someone over the internet that could say anything just to get you there. After a lot of thought and talking a lot to Josh over the next few weeks I decided to book a mule deer hunt for myself and a friend.
I am very glad to report we had a successful hunt while there, but more important than that I felt like we got everything that we were promised. Our guide, Josh, worked very hard to put me in position to kill my deer and the food at the lodge was great. I have told all of my friends about Shoshone Lodge hunting services and I am in the process of putting together another trip for next year. I would highly recommend Shoshone Lodge Outfitters and Josh as a guide to anyone. Happy Hunting!"

"Josh Martoglio is one heck of a guide. He's not only passionate about hunting, he's (in his own words) obsessed with it. Josh is young, energetic, positive and upbeat. And even at the ripe old age of 26, is wise and mature well beyond his age. He has the personality and conversational skills to relate to anyone; a must when you're going to be spending a lot of time, side-by-side with someone for many days and nights. He knows the (big) country he hunts, he knows the behaviors and habits of the game he's after, and how to spot them many miles away. He's also patient and persistent. An excellent horseman and a darn good cook best breakfast burritos I've ever had. I told him he should open up a stand at the trail head.
Josh, along with his brother Jordan, and colleague Tim took me on an incredible Big Horn Sheep hunt in Wyoming. As you can see, they got me a fantastic, Heavy-Horned Chocolate Ram! Josh's patience really shined through here. He asked if I wanted to shoot this one, amongst the band of Rams? I didn't hesitate, I'd spent a lot of time learning how to judge a good ram and he got me close, initially 300 yards, I missed twice; yet he remained calm and got me set up again quickly, and said, "We're not through shooting" and this calmed me down, connecting on the third shot. He knew the lay of the land, got us across a canyon and the stream below on horseback, and got us in close to the Ram and for the photo shoot. He and Jordan took some great photos and video; jumped in and caped and packed my Ram off the steep mountain side. An incredibly beautiful ride in and out and he had a great quote pertaining to me shooting at the first big Ram we'd seen, "Don't pass on something the first day that you'd shoot on the last day."
Got my Ram, the first evening we went in, which was to be an 8-Day hunt. I couldn't have been more thrilled. I'm more than happy to take any calls or e-mails you may have when you're considering your hunt of a lifetime."

" I highly recommend Josh for a guided hunt." |
|
"I highly recommend Josh Martoglio for a guided hunt. In 2010 I was fortunate to draw a sheep tag for Wyoming. I had checked out several outfitters and guides when a friend recommended his nephew, Josh. After visiting with Josh I set up a sheep hunt in late October.
I'm in my late 60's and just before the hunt had knee surgery. Josh said he would do everything he could to get me a sheep. We had spotted nine rams and I told Josh I didn't think I could get up there. He said he'd get me up there and he did within 300 yards and I shot a nice ram. Again, I highly recommend Josh for a guided hunt. You may contact me at 307-680-6453. Thanks Josh!"
